Archangel Michael figurine

Saint Michael the Archangel is one of the angels who appear by name in the Holy Scriptures.

The name of the Archangel derives from the Hebrew Mi-ka-El which literally means "Who is like God!".

His name can be found four times in the sacred texts. In Daniel 10, in Daniel 12, in the Catholic epistle of Saint Jude 1 and in Revelation 12.

The figure of the Archangel Saint Michael in the Catholic Church

The Archangel Saint Michael is traditionally represented as a handsome warrior equipped with war elements.

The body of an angel is usually covered by a breastplate or chain mail. In his hands he usually carries a shield and a spear.

In addition to clothing, the angel is usually depicted together with a demon at his feet. The victorious Archangel Saint Michael steps on the head of the demon. In other figures, the image of the devil is replaced by a dragon. The figure of the dragon is taken from the text of the Apocalypse.

This representation reproduces the important role played by Saint Michael during the war to expel the fallen angels from Heaven. During this confrontation between the forces of Good and Evil, Saint Michael was the leader of God's troops.

His name was used as a battle cry during the battle against Satan's troops.

Saint Michael's Day Celebration

On September 29 we celebrate the day of the Holy Archangels Michael, Raphael and Gabriel. That is, of the three angels that are mentioned in the Holy Scriptures.

On this day we remember the important role played by the three archangels carrying out the designs of God.

San Miguel is in a continuous fight to defend men from the threat of the Devil. He tries to rescue the souls of the faithful who have fallen into the clutches of the Enemy and accompany the souls of the deceased to the Final Judgment.
