Tapestry of the Virgin of Lourdes, representation
The religious tapestry of the Virgin of Lourdes represents the apparition of the Virgin Mary in the Massabielle grotto, on the banks of the Gave river, on the outskirts of the town of Lourdes. In 1858, the 14-year-old girl Bernadette Soubirous received a visit from the Virgin Mary in the famous grotto.
In the lower left part of the tapestry of Our Lady of Lourdes can be seen the kneeling figure of the seer Bernadette Soubirous. The young woman holds a rosary in her hands.
On the right side of the tapestry, the Virgin Mary is depicted in her classical dress. Our Holy Mother is dressed in a completely white dress with a blue belt in the front. Just behind the figure of the Virgin Mary is the Massabielle grotto.
At the top left is the Sanctuary of Lourdes, also known as the Sanctuary of Our Lady of Lourdes.
