Virgin of Fatima , Our Lady shares her secrets

The apparitions of the Virgin Mary are linked to important messages that Our Holy Mother wants to communicate to Humanity. In the case of the apparition of the Virgin Mary in Fatima, Portugal, it is not different from other apparitions of the Virgin.

The seers of the Virgin of Fátima were three little shepherds from a humble family of Portuguese ranchers. The shepherds were named Lucía dos Santos, ten years old, and her cousins, Jacinta and Francisco Marto, six and nine years old respectively. The message transmitted by the Virgin of Fatima is known as the Three Secrets of Fatima.

  • First Secret of the Virgin of Fatima

The First Secret of Fatima showed a vision of hell. A hell where the souls who had acted against the Law of God suffered great torments throughout eternity in a great "sea of fire". As we know, the vision of hell caused the three shepherds a great restlessness. This First Secret of Fatima is understood as a warning not only to the three shepherds but also to all humanity. The punishment for not following God's way is eternal damnation.

  • Second Secret of the Virgin of Fatima

The Second Secret of Fatima talks about the reconversion of the world to Christianity. This Second Secret is related to the end of World War II and the beginning of the conversion of Russia.
When Our Lady appeared at Fatima, she transmitted through this Second Secret her desire that Russia be consecrated to her Immaculate Heart. In this way, the persecution of priests and the Church could be avoided, wars and famines avoided.

The First Secret and the Second Secret were made known by Lucia, with the approval of her bishop, on August 31, 1941. Lucia, already as Sister Lucia, published her third memoir and revealed the content of the First Secret and the Second Secret. .

  • Third Secret of the Virgin of Fatima

The Third Secret of Fatima was the secret that took the longest to become public. It was made known by the Secretary of State, Cardinal Angelo Sodano, on May 13, 2000. It is known that the Third Secret was put in writing by Sister Lucia as early as 1944.

The Third Secret of Fatima speaks of the Virgin showing the three shepherds a Bishop dressed in white followed by priests and religious. The group walks through a ruined city, littered with dead bodies. The Bishop, followed by priests and religious, climbs a mountain with a wooden Cross at the top.

The Bishop and the priests are attacked by armed men who shoot mercilessly at them. All die at the foot of the Cross. The vision of the Third Secret of Fatima ends with Angels collecting the blood of the dead religious men and women. The collected blood is used by the Angels to water the souls of the men and women who approach the presence of God.

The interpretation that has been given to this Third Secret has to do with the prophetic meaning that the visions of the Virgin of Fatima had. The shepherds saw events that would happen throughout the 20th century.

It is understood that the vision of the Bishop dressed in white is the vision of the Pope, of the heir of Saint Peter. The Holy Father, as the main figure in the Church, and the different people who occupy the position of Pope, will suffer pain and loss throughout the century. They will experience the sacrifice of many priests, men and women religious at the hands of communists and radicals. An example of suffering is, without a doubt, the attack suffered by John Paul II on May 13, 1981 in Saint Peter's Square in Vatican City at the hands of Mehmet Ali Agca.
