My First Communion gluten-free set  | Kit for celiac boys and girls

Some time ago at Brabander Religious Articles we started selling gluten-free Sacred Hosts. Communion Hosts specially designed for celiac people. Gluten-free wafers have been and are widely accepted within the celiac community.

This type of Hosts solve the problem of the direct intake of gluten for those who suffer from celiac disease. This already represents a great advance with respect to the other Hosts to consecrate made with wheat.

Although the improvement is significant, many people, especially fathers and mothers of boys and girls who were going to make their First Communion, have contacted us with the desire to buy articles from our store linked to the moment of the Eucharist. Many of these parents, in collaboration with their parish priests, have decided to purchase a second set of Eucharistic products. In this way, what is known as cross-contamination of the Hots is avoided.

Wafer cross-contamination can be defined as the process by which gluten-free Hosts come into contact with Gluten-containing Hosts, or other gluten-containing elements, directly or through other elements, per diem holders, goblets, cloths, altar, etc...

Cross-contamination of gluten-free Hosts can occur at different times during Communion. Following the recommendations of different dioceses, we have created this game for boys and girls in their First Communion. Of course, it could also be a very useful Eucharistic game in any parish or for any adult.

Recommendations for the First Communion of celiac boys and girls

Among the recommendations that the Church establishes to celebrate the First Communion of celiac boys and girls are the following:

  • Use a different per diem bag to carry the Hosts with gluten and the Hosts without gluten. By transporting the wafers in different per diem carriers, cross-contamination is avoided. It is especially important for those priests who must celebrate in different parishes.
  • Use different goblets and patens for Wafers with gluten and Wafers without gluten. At the time of the Eucharist, the Hosts without gluten could easily be contaminated. It is recommended that the ciborium for gluten-free Hosts have a lid and be easily recognizable.
  • Avoid dividing the Sacred Hosts over the chalice with the consecrating wine. The fragments that break off at the moment the Hosts are broken could contaminate the chalice and the wine. A different chalice can also be used to give wine to celiac people.
  • Use different altar sets to clean the sacred vessels used for Gluten Hosts and Gluten Free Hosts .
  • The priest must wash his hands before touching any item likely to contaminate the Gluten Free Hosts . It is critical to have a different lavabo towel to clean your hands after washing them.

All the items in this gluten-free My Communion set can be purchased individually (with or without gluten-free Hosts ) in our online store.
