Priest's stole

The Catholic Church has numerous hierarchical levels.

One of these levels is occupied by those whom we generically call priests or clergy.

It is important to say that, although in conventional language these two concepts tend to be used interchangeably, a priest and a clergyman are not exactly the same thing.

The word "priest" in the context of the Catholic Church comes from the Latin "cura," which means "care" or "attention". In the religious field, a priest is a person who has received priestly ordination and has the task of caring for the faithful of his church or parish.

That is, a Catholic priest is a clergyman whose main task is to attend to the spiritual needs of his faithful. All priests are clergymen, but not all clergymen are priests.

Thus, for example, Bishops are clergymen, but they are not priests.
