The three seer shepherds of the Virgin of Fatima were of very humble condition. Lucía de Jesús de los Santos, Francisco Marto and Jacinta Marto witnessed the apparitions of the Virgin in Fatima on numerous occasions during the year 1917.

Francisco Marto and Jacinta Marto , they were brothers, they died a few years after having seen the Virgin Mary. Francisco died in the year 1919. Jacinta passed away on February 20, 1920. Francisco and Jacinta were beatified by John Paul II on May 13, 2000 during their visit to the Sanctuary of Fatima.

Lucía de Jesús de los Santos , was the longest-lived seer. He lived until 2005. After the apparitions of the Virgin in Fatima, he entered the Order of the Discalced Carmelites. Throughout his life he wrote about the Secrets of the Virgin Mary revealed to them in her apparitions in Fatima: The First Secret and the Second Secret were made public in the year 1941. While the Third Secret of Fatima was not revealed until the year 2000.
