Scapular of the Immaculate Conception, reproduction of "La Inmaculada del Escorial" by Murillo

The Scapular of the Immaculate Conception is a religious article for whose design the painting known as "La Inmaculada del Escorial" by the Spanish painter Bartolomé Esteban Murillo has been taken as a reference.

" La Inmaculada del Escorial " was a work carried out between 1660 and 1665. The pictorial work was conceived with an oil on canvas of 206 x 144 cm.

In this representation of the Virgin Mary from the painting “La Inmaculada del Escorial” the artist eliminates elements from other works of the Immaculate to focus on the virginal purity of the Virgin Mary.

So superfluous is eliminated and focuses on detailing the Virgin Mary as a universal symbol of beauty and purity. Qualities that made her worthy of conceiving the Child Jesus in her womb.

This painting is part of those popularly known as Murillo's Immaculate Conception. A series of paintings in which the great Sevillian artist paints the Immaculate Conception. In total about twenty paintings that have gone down in history as the highest expressions of the beauty and purity of Our Holy Mother.
