What are battery-operated processional candles?
The battery-operated processional candles are processional consumables each formed of an imitation-wax tube, an LED bulb and a compartment for two AA batteries. This product is sold as a set of two.
The LED bulbs are designed with a flicker simulating the real flame. The candles keep a constant warm light, even outdoors.
Especially designed for lighting in Holy Week processions and liturgical acts.
Advantages compared to traditional wax candles
Battery-operated processional candles eliminate the risk of fire associated with the flame of wax candles. In processions, where tunics, cloaks, flowers and other flammable materials are at a short distance, the absence of flame significantly reduces possible accidents. This is especially relevant on routes through narrow streets or with a high concentration of the public.
Especially suitable for children's processions for safety reasons. As they do not generate heat or a real flame, they prevent accidental burns on hands, face or clothing. This allows children and young people to take part in the procession with lower physical risk.
Unlike wax candles, they do not produce drips or solid residues. Traditional candles can stain pavements, platforms or habits, requiring later cleaning tasks. The imitation-wax body maintains the processional aesthetics without generating remains, which simplifies the logistics of confraternities and town councils.
Resistance to wind constitutes another practical advantage. While a natural flame can go out easily, the LED remains lit even in adverse outdoor conditions.
In addition, their reuse for several years allows the initial investment to be amortised, as they only require replacement of batteries.
