Saint James, The Great | Catholic Church figure

Saint James, The Great | Catholic Church spanish figures

Religious statuary is one of the best-selling religious items in our online store. Within the religious images section, our buyers are especially interested in the spanish statuary.

In this post we will delve into the craft techniques of handmade spanish statuary imagery in a somewhat special way. Being a Galician religious articles company, and given the proximity of the day of Galicia, July 25, Saint James feast, we will focus our analysis on the manufacturing process of a religious image of which we are especially proud: the religious image of the Apostle of Santiago dressed in the typical clothes of the pilgrims to Compostela and decorated with the shells of Santiago.

The Saint James the Great figurine is very important to us because it is a piece of statuary from Olot that Brabander Religious Articles manufactures and sells exclusively worldwide.

The image of St. James dressed as a pilgrim is a handcrafted piece made following the criteria that have made spanish catholic figurines world famous.

Holy Year of Mercy in Galicia

Holy Year of Mercy in Galicia

The Galician Cathedrals of Lugo, Mondoñedo, Santiago de Compostela, Ourense and Tui have celebrated this third Sunday of Advent (Guadete) in a very special way. The Cathedral of Santa María de Lugo, the Cathedral of Mondoñedo, the Cathedral of Santiago de Compostela, the Cathedral of San Martín de Ourense and the Cathedral of Santa María de Tui celebrated the beginning of the Holy Year of Mercy, Extraordinary Jubilee Year.

Just as Pope Francis did a few days ago in the Cathedral of Saint Peter in Rome, the five Galician Cathedrals, and other significant churches, opened the Holy Door, known as the Door of Mercy during this Extraordinary Holy Year.

Many other Churches and Cathedrals throughout the world opened the Door of Mercy to celebrate this Holy Year. Pope Francis has determined that the Cathedrals, the Co-Cathedrals and the sanctuaries that the Diocesan Bishops select should be jubilee temples. The Holy Doors will remain open from December 13 to November 20, 2016, the day that the Holy Year of Mercy will officially end.

150th anniversary restoration of the Perpetual Help Icon

Byzantine Icons | Our Lady of Perpetual Help

Byzantine icons have achieved great popularity throughout history. One of the most admired is the Icon of Our Lady of Perpetual Help (also known as the Icon of Perpetual Help or Icon of Our Lady of Perpetual Help).

From June 25, 2015 to June 27, 2016 we celebrate a Jubilee Year to commemorate 150 years of two very important events. The first of these is the delivery of the Icon of Perpetual Help to the Redemptorist Fathers. The second, the restoration to public devotion of the Icon of Our Lady of Perpetual Help.

To commemorate this important event, Mr. Juan Manuel del Río has written a book in which he "cooperates as much as possible in spreading knowledge and devotion to Our Lady of Perpetual Help." We intend to help as much as possible by writing this post with information taken from the book “Icono Perpetuo Socorro. 150 years since the delivery to the Redemptorists, and restoration of the ICON (1866-2016)”.
